Ready to discover the best Jericho restaurants? Don’t miss the best places to dine in Jericho with this handy guide.

From quaint French hangouts to family-owned spots with cult followings, Jericho is an area of Oxford well-known for its smattering of high-quality restaurants – many of which are located on Walton Street.

But with so many to choose from, which ones are really worth your time and money? These are the spots we’re recommending right now.

Best Restaurants in Jericho

Brasserie Blanc

£££

If you’re looking for the best restaurants Jericho boasts, Brasserie Blanc tops them all. Owned by Celebrity Chef Raymond Blanc, this far-from-humble spot serves up authentic French cuisine, crafted using seasonal British ingredients.

Whilst the menu changes often, the likes of chicken liver parfait, duck leg confit with a zingy citrus sauce, and a deliciously tempting Cornish beef burger with tomato chutney and French fries make regular appearances.

Order yourself a glass of bubbly and relax in one of the top Walton Street Oxford restaurants.

Jamal’s

££

Jamal’s, or Jamal’s Saffron as it’s now collectively known, is not just the top Indian restaurant Jericho boasts, but the best in Oxford.

If it’s a choice you’re after, Jamal’s doesn’t disappoint. Whether you’re a total spice fiend who can handle a madras without breaking a sweat, or prefer your curry creamy and sweet, there’s plenty on the menu for you to choose from.

Whatever you do, order yourself some Bombay potatoes and plenty of crispy tandoori roti for dipping.

Pierre Victoire

££

Another of the indulgent French-inspired Jericho Oxford restaurants is Pierre Victoire. While this haunt might not be as outwardly bold and brash as Brasserie Blanc, it has all the charm of a little bistro tucked away on the backstreets of Paris.

As expected, the menu is a delicate fusion of famous plates – such as Steak Frites and a potato, leek, and mushroom Tartiflette – alongside some more rogue additions.

The Poussin a la Forestiere is one of our favourites, a tasty dish featuring a roasted chicken in a mushroom and bacon sauce, served alongside dauphinoise potatoes.

With all wonderful French restaurants, the wine list is just as long as the food menu – and Pierre Victoire’s is filled with a range of whites, reds, rosés, and bubbly’s from across the country. Though, they’ve got plenty of gins and non-French wines on offer, too.

Branca Bar, Restaurant, and Deli

££

Fusing the very best of British and Italian cuisine, Branca Bar, Restaurant, and Deli is one of the best places to eat in Jericho.

What to order? While the pizzas are delicious, we recommend skipping them (all will become clear) and instead opting for pasta dishes. In particular, the king prawn linguine, which comes doused in pistachio, rocket, chilli, and lemon.

Save room for dessert – this spot offers up the best Tiramisu in Oxford. A bold claim, we know.

Mamma Mia Pizzeria

£

For a far more lowkey affair, head to Mamma Mia Pizzeria. Sure, the name is a giant gimmick, but the pizzas are undeniably delicious. This is why we told ya to skip on pizza at Branca.

In fact, we would hazard a guess that you’ll struggle to find a restaurant in Oxford that offers better value for money than here.

Whether you like your pizza plain, or prefer to throw on as many ingredients as possible (in that case, may we recommend the meat and veg packed Anna pizza?), there’s plenty on the menu to choose from.

And, those on team pineapple can breathe a sigh of relief – you’ll find the ingredient is very much on the menu here. The Tropicana pizza is one of our favourites, actually.

Other Places to Eat in Jericho

The Jericho Cafe

£

The Jericho Cafe has long been known as one of the best restaurants in Jericho, Oxford. This family-owned spot serves up wholesome, homemade dishes – in particular, an excellent brunch.

The bacon and egg waffles are firm favourites amongst locals returning time and time again. Though if you’re after something a little bit more traditional, the beans on sourdough toast is a classic for a reason.

If you’re heading there for lunch or dinner, the Cajun chicken burger and salt beef bagel both go down a treat, while you’ll want to save room for the so-naughty-it’s-nice Kinder blondie.

Manos Fresh Food Bar

£

Manos’ might just be the best Greek restaurant Jericho boasts, which is quite a feat since Oxford has a surprisingly large number of Greek food spots.

Well, whether this is a restaurant or not is still up for debate. One thing’s for sure though: the food here is insane.

If you order one thing, make it the Kimadopita – lean minced lamb in a tomato and herb sauce, wrapped in filo pastry and smothered in feta cheese. Delicious. Also, the hummus.

In fact, go hungry and order as much as you can stomach.

Freud

££

Freud’s vibe might be more of a cafe/bar, but that doesn’t mean the food on offer is anything less than wonderful.

Perfect for all kinds of occasions, whether you want to snack on picky bits whilst sipping cocktails or dine on a hearty pizza or ciabatta – we adore the roasted veggie offering.

If you fancy going all out (go on, you deserve it!), opt for the sharing option. For £14.95 each, you can share a smorgasbord of delights: nachos, hummus, a selection of pizza, salad, as well as a glass of wine.
