The Randolph Hotel

For the ultimate luxury experience, head to The Randolph Hotel and its onsite spa. This is a grand hotel with an equally grand spa, perfect for a special occasion (not that you need a special occasion to treat yourself!).

A candle-lit walkway leads you to a rock sauna, hydro bath, and sensation shower, amongst other rooms. This adults-only spa also offers a range of massages, facials, and scrubs, so you can surrender to your senses and fully unwind.

The period hotel itself is impressive, with high-ceiling rooms kitted out with traditional furniture and linens, with a modern bathroom – if you’re looking for a brilliant boutique hotel in the centre of Oxford with a spa, look no further than The Randolph Hotel.

Whether you’re looking to indulge in a spa break or not, this is one of our favourite hotels in Oxford as it’s close to all the main landmarks and attractions – make the most out of your experience by ending a day of exploration with a relaxing soak.

Doubletree by Hilton

Doubletree Hilton

Doubletree by Hilton sits within 17 acres of beautiful countryside and provides an idyllic spa break. The hotel feels more like a swanky country club, with 2 large courtyards as the main centrepiece of the hotel.

And you don’t even need to venture into the centre of Oxford for dinner if you don’t fancy it (although we highly recommend these unmissable places to eat) – the onsite Rycote Restaurant serves up delicious meat dishes on a bistro-like terrace.

There are a couple of really great value spa packages on offer in one of their eight treatment rooms, starting at just £39 for full use of the spa facilities. Speaking of spa facilities, you’ve got more than enough here, from a large pool to a relaxation room and a revitalising experience shower – plenty to keep you occupied for a day or two of rest and relaxation.

And, if you don’t fancy the full package, you’re more than welcome to book in for a single treatment, or even just get your nails done while you’re there.

The best part? Pets are very much welcome to join you for an indulgent stay. For £30 per pet, you can bring your furry friend along for a paw-fect pamper session.

Price Range: £

Area: A pretty 20-minute drive from the centre of Oxford, near Milton Common.

Oxford Witney Hotel

Witney Hotel

Nestled in the Oxfordshire countryside, the Oxford Witney Hotel is a gorgeous manor-style hotel on the outskirts of the city.

With how stunning the hotel is, it’s no wonder that it’s a popular wedding venue – so make sure to book in advance if you want a guaranteed spa break or you’ll be battling bridal parties for use of the facilities.

Witney town centre is only a twenty-minute walk away, so if you fancy a quieter break, this could be a great option for you. Here you’ll find plenty of quaint pubs and restaurants, perfect if you don’t fancy schlepping your way into Oxford city centre.

The hotel rooms here are modern and sleek, yet ooze character with delicate touches like tartan sofas and floral decor, alongside traditional marble bathrooms equipped with full, complimentary amenities.

Ready to hear the best bit? When you stay at the Oxford Witney Hotel, you’ll get given unlimited access to the hotel’s spa facilities. You’ve got a leisure club, spa bath, steam room, and sauna right at your fingertips for no extra cost. This is truly the best value spa break.

Price Range: £

Area: Located in Witney, less than 30 minutes drive from Oxford’s pretty city centre and all the main tourist attractions.

Old Swan

Old Swan

Okay, so Old Swan is located a bit further out of Oxford in Minster Lovell, but we seriously think it’s worth considering for your next spa break. If you’re looking for a pretty hotel, this one is nestled in the Cotswolds and boasts some picturesque views.

The hotel is set in a medieval inn, bursting with period features and impressive exposed beams – and the rooms are no stranger to traditional charm either. Wooden four-post beds and kitsch tartan linen decorate the rooms, and a cosy reading nook sits in the corner, so pack a book and prepare to chill.

Make your way to The Garden Spa, where facials, deep-tissue massages, and sumptuous body wraps await. Or, for just £25, you can gain access to the spa facilities and spend a day at the pool.

We recommend making the most of the stunning nature that surrounds you, and finishing off a day of countryside walks with a relaxing soak.

Price Range: £££

Area: To the west of Witney in Oxfordshire, about a 40-minute drive from Oxford city centre.

VOCO Oxford Spires

VOCO Spires Hotel

Another VOCO spa hotel to make it into this guide is the equally charming VOCO Oxford Spires. As you would expect with an IHG hotel, rooms are an immaculate blend of modern and rustic, with cute artwork adorning the walls.

The onsite Willows Health Club boasts spa and gym facilities, including a heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and fully equipped gym. The value for money here is impeccable.

Craving a full-on pamper session? Take it a step further and book yourself one of their Decleor body and ace treatments for the ultimate experience.

You’ve also got the option of afternoon tea at Deacon’s restaurant – a delicious selection of finger sandwiches, cakes, and scones (whether you put cream or jam first is up to you!) alongside unlimited tea, coffee, or prosecco. Sounds like the perfect way to recoup after an exhausting morning being pampered, if you ask us.

The Oxfordshire Hotel Spa & Golf Club

Oxfordshire Hotel and Spa

With one of the most extensive spa treatment menus we’ve ever laid our eyes upon, The Oxfordshire Hotel Spa & Golf Club makes for the perfect spa break in Oxford.

The large wellness centre makes it incredibly easy to lose a day relaxing here, and with treatments ranging from an aromasoul body scrub to a revitalising foot massage, it’s impossible to just pick one.

That’s where the packages come in handy – choose from Orient, Arabia, India, and Mediterranean spa packages, and indulge in multiple treatments and all-day pool access. What a great deal.

This hotel really offers the best of both worlds: in close proximity to the city centre, but just isolated enough that it feels like you’ve escaped the hubbub of the city. Alternate your days between exploring and relaxing.

Price Range: ££

Area: Set on a secluded golf course, not far from the city centre.

Bicester Hotel Golf & Spa

Bicester Hotel

Want to combine a spa break with golf? Bicester Hotel Golf & Spa is a tranquil spot nestled in the countryside between Oxford and Bicester, offering plenty of treatments alongside the likes of a pool, hydro spa, and sauna.

Male guests are also covered here as there’s even a dedicated menu for them with options including a BIOTEC super facial and a hot mineral massage. And with a round of golf costing anywhere from £25, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in a fun weekend of putting and pampering.

Love to shop? You’re also not far from the designer outlet haven that is Bicester Village, so spend the morning having a pamper session before splashing some serious cash. This shopping spot has some brilliant restaurants too – Cafe Wolseley and The Farmshop Restaurant are our top picks.

Price Range: ££

Area: Handily, this hotel is just off the M40 and is a short drive from Bicester Village.

Cotswolds Hotel & Spa

It’s fair to say that this spa is a little bit further out of Oxford than the others, but Cotswolds Hotel & Spa in Chipping Norton is just so lovely that we had to mention it. Rooms are simple but modern, equipped with all the home comforts you need for a spa break.

With 4 treatment rooms, a hot tub, sauna, steam room, and fitness suite, you’re getting lots of value for your money here. And the array of add-on treatments even includes pregnancy-safe facials, perfect for expecting mums or anyone with extra-sensitive skin.

Top tip: Opt for a junior suite with a view of the golf course for pure indulgence, and spend an afternoon people-watching with a glass of wine (or two) as those below play a round of golf.

Price Range: £

Area: A 40-minute drive through the Cotswolds from Oxford, well worth it for the pretty views though.

Practical Tips for Booking a Spa Hotel in Oxford

  • There aren’t too many spa hotels in Oxford’s city centre, so it’s worth expanding your search to the Cotswolds for lengthy walks with pretty countryside views.
  • Booking a spa hotel can cause your budget to spiral quickly, so make sure you don’t spend more than you can afford – after all, you don’t want to ruin your relaxing spa experience by worrying about money!
  • It’s worth making a list of treatments you would like or facilities you’re after – not every single spa hotel will have an experience shower, for example.
  • If none of these hotels float your boat, it might be worth looking for a spa in the area that offers day passes, which could be a great compromise.
